Waterville was the Hop Capital of the Country from the mid 1800's to the mid 1900's. It is the birth place of George Eastman, who founded the Eastman Kodak Company. Waterville is also known for a notorious family of outlaws, The Loomis Gang.
The Historical Society is located
at 220 E. Main Street in Waterville, NY. A ribbon cutting Sunday, March 21 afternoon officially opened the doors to the new headquarters of the Waterville Historical Society on Main Street next to the firehouse. Waterville mayor Jim Younes, Dick Woodman, representing the Barton Fund, Wendy Sexton and Historical Society president Joe Falk did the honors before opening the renovated building up for tours. |
