Power Line Project

A corporation called the New York Regional Interconnent Inc. is planning to run a 400KV direct current transmission line from Marcy in Oneida County to Orange County to provide extra electrical power to the lower Hudson valley and the Long Island/New York City area. This plan will take this behemoth power line with 100' towers through the Towns of Paris, Sangerfield and Marshall including Chadwicks, Sauquoit, Clayville, Cassville and Waterville. The proposed route will actually be constructed on the NY Susquehanna and Western Railroad right of way. The 100' towers would be erected next to the tracks and the three transmission lines would be suspended over the tracks.

Mayor Younes along with Trustees Treen and Woodhouse have been attending the STOP NYRI meetings. Information regarding the actions being taken to oppose this project is available at Village Hall, 122 South Stafford Ave. Copies will be made available to anyone who wants them by contacting the Village Clerk. We invite any concerned citizen to sign the petition which is available at the village hall. Your village board will adopt a resolution in support of Oneida County's opposition to the power lines.
